180 THE STRAND180 STRAND, LONDON WC2R 1EACurrently the epicentre of our exhibitions and events program, our landmark 180 The Strand outpost will continue to grow and evolve over the coming year into a fully realised manifestation of The Store X platform.CURRENT EXHIBITIONSSTRANGE DAYS: MEMORIES OF THE FUTURE In partnership with New Museum & The Vinyl Factory “Strange Days: Memories of the Future,” is an immersive, polyphonic show curated by Massimiliano Gioni, the New Museum’s Edlis Neeson Artistic Director, in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory.
The exhibition presents the work of twenty-one acclaimed artists and filmmakers who have shown video works at the New Museum in its ten years on the Bowery. “Strange Days” considers how images shape memories while anticipating visions of what the future may hold.
Featured works in the exhibition include Kahlil Joseph’s Fly Paper (2017), a deeply personal portrait of black cultural life in Harlem; John Akomfrah’s Vertigo Sea (2015), an epic three-screen meditation on the ocean as an environmental, cultural, and historical force; Camille Henrot’s Grosse Fatigue (2013), in which a rapid succession and layering of images tells the story of creation; and Pipilotti Rist’s video and sound installation 4th Floor To Mildness (2016). ALEX EAGLE PRESENTS: BEN KELLY’S COLUMNSConcerning the building of these columns, we have no certain news
Designer Ben Kelly's new work Columns is currently on show at The Store X, 180 The Strand. Columns revisits and expands on one of the fundamental architectural features of Kelly’s design for the iconic Manchester club, The Haçienda.
Having built the touring set for fashion designer Virgil Abloh, with whom he collaborated on mythical nightclub installation Ruin at The Store X last year, Kelly's Columns interrogates themes of power, classicism, romanticism and decay.
